had a grant from the crown, in the 23rd year of King Henry II., of the Earldom of Sussex, and in the first year of King Richard I., had a confirmation from that prince, of the castle and honor of Arundel, as also of the Tertium Denarium of the county of Sussex. William married Matilda de St Hilary du Harcouet, daughter of James de St Hilary du Harcouet and Aveline. |
