Adelaide of Burgundy
perhaps the most prominent European woman of the 10th century; she was regent of the Holy Roman Empire as the guardian of her grandson in 991-995. Adelaide married King Lothair of Italy II. (King Lothair of Italy II was born in 926 and died on 22 Nov 950.) Adelaide next married Otto of Saxony I, Holy Roman Emperor, son of King Henry of Saxony I the Fowler and Saint Matilda of Ringelheim, in 951. (Otto of Saxony I, Holy Roman Emperor was born on 23 Nov 912 in Wallhausen, , BW, DEU and died on 7 May 973 in Memleben, , SA, DEU.) |
