The cemetery was originally called Coigne and can be found on older maps, the new name is spelt Quone/Quoin and is known locally as Grave Island. From the landing area, steps lead to a steep path that winds around most of the graves. They are now mostly over-grown with gorse and scrub. Graves run along the ridge and the ground falls away steeply each side. The BUSH headstone is the only one that the path does not actually reach. The grave is very overgrown and Robert Bush is not actually buried on the island. The original surname was spelt BUSCH and was Anglised to BUSH at the beginning of W.W.1.There are signs of early Maori pits along one side. The BUSH headstone reads: "In loving memory of our dear parents Harry and Sarah Bush and our beloved brother Robert". "I will rise and go to my Father" Source: Don Armitage.
