OBITUARY

MR J. H. MILLIS The death occurred on Saturday of Mr James Henry Millis, who was well known in the engineering trade in Dunedin. Mr Millis was born at Maori Hill 68 years ago, and received his education at the Old Stone \\ School, Union street. He was later apprenticed to the engineering trade, and entered business with his father in 1889. Later he assumed control of the business, which, under his guidance, expanded to a considerable extent. Mr Millis was an enthusiastic Mason, and held several high offices in the craft, including that of master of Lodge Haeremai and first principal of Maori Royal Arch Chapter. He was also a member of the Rotary Club and took a keen interest in its work. Other organisations with which he was associated were the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, the Dunedin Manufacturers' Association, and the Otago Ironmasters' Association. He is survived by his wife, and three sons\'97Messrs Robert, Albert and Gerald Millis\'97and ' one daughter, Mrs H. S. Ross

James married Elizabeth McKinley Roberts, daughter of William Henry Roberts and Catherine Chalmers, on 15 Apr 1908.¹ (Elizabeth McKinley Roberts was born on 20 Aug 1885 in Kurow, , Otago, New Zealand ⁴ and died in Jul 1976 in Dunedin, , Otago, New Zealand ⁵.). The cause of her death was aortic aneurysm.
