  General Notes:

When she had finished her schooling, a Dr Norton who was a friend of her father, persuaded him to have Laura Ellen trained in some calling. She was finally apprenticed to a Mrs Winters of Arapohue who was a beautiful dressmaker and costumier.
After her apprenticeship was finished, she earned her living dressmaking for people and it was at Rehia while sewing for Mrs Finlayson that she met George WILKINS, whom Mr Finlayson had brought home for the weekend.

The cause of his death was Carcinoma pelvi-rectal colon - bolostomy for obstruction. Inanition.

• Misc. George had come North from his Mt Albert home to lay the train Iines to bring out the timber from the Waimata bush area, situated in the Waihue-Mamaranui area.
After they were married oin the family home in 1896, they lived in a rough bush shack, but when the second chiId was expected the conditions were too hard for Laura ElIen and she and George then leased the old Vincent house which was then unoccup'ied. Later when Robert and Fanny Vincent retired, they built on the property on the area now occupied by Reg, Molly and Cyril.
George, by working away and coming home each weekend, managed eventually to earn enough money to buy the farm. He was able to lay some very good train lines for the moving of timber logs out of the forest.
