bullet  General Notes:

Had an income of some £20,000 p.a. from land and other investments.
On Warren Maude's death, his second son, Jacob, succeeded the far the larger portion of possessions as, not unnaturally, the old man, no doubt felt more affection for his second son, Jacob, then a fine young man of about 21 or 22 than in his grandson, Thomas, who was a boy of some 7 years old at the time of his grandfather's death.

bullet  Noted events in his life were:

• Religion: a member of the Society of Friends. 6

• Residence: Sunniside House, from 1739, Sunderland, DUR, England, UK. In 1730 the Georgian mansion, Sunniside House, was erected for Ebenezer Wardell on the south side of High Street between what was later to be Norfolk Street on the east side and West Sunniside on the west and it was from this mansion that the area of Sunniside was eventually to take its name.
In 1739 Ebenezer sold the house to Warren Maude, himself the son of a wealthy coal-fitter.
Warren's family owned properties in many of the surrounding streets and at that time was one of the most prominent families in old Sunderland.
The mansion, Sunniside House, reflected their status and wealth with its large grounds which included a view south overlooking a wide expanse of flowerbeds, borders and terraces reaching what was eventually to become Borough Road.
