Her father, Robert Millis, was in the King's service (Military) and was stationed at the garrison at Gibraltar where Helen and her sister Fanny were born. She started calling herself Ellen some time after 1859, Helen Katherine's birth cert shows "Helen" as the mother and informant but Matilda's certificate in 1867 shows "Ellen" as does all subsequent documentation. Obituary extracted from NZ Herald 17/3/1921: Death has claimed another old colonist in the person of Mrs. Sakey, widow of the late Mr. John Augustus Sakey, of Auckland. Mrs Sakey who attained the age of 87 years, arrived at Auckland with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Millis, in the ship Berwick Castle in 1852 and resided in Auckland ever since. Upon the death of her husband in 1881 she took up the profession of nursing, retiring 12 years ago. She is survived by 2 sons and 4 daughters, 43 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
